You may have read or seen news reports about the special administration measures at South London Healthcare NHS Trust.
We are keen to reassure potential candidates for jobs at the Trust that it is business as usual for service delivery. Clinical services still need to be provided for our local population and, whatever the future organisational structures managing the Trust, provision of care to our local population must continue.
In recent years the Trust has made significant improvements in the quality of care delivered to patients - among the lowest mortality and infection rates now in England - but it is true that the financial challenges facing the Trust remain significant. Our Trust, our Commissioners and the Department of Health are all in agreement that this needs to be tackled and in a way which is clear and ends uncertainty.
We continue to be supported financially by the Department of Health and there is no risk to employee salaries and terms and conditions. These are protected by national agreements.
We have been managing vacancies carefully and only jobs that are critical for patient care and service delivery are released for recruitment. Because of this we believe that you can have confidence in joining the Trust at this time. We know that there will be changes in how we are managed and there may be some changes in how services are provided, but we will continue to work hard to ensure that patient care is paramount and we need skilled and professional staff to work here to make this the case.
We sincerely hope that you will continue with your application to the Trust.
