A clearly impressive effort by the stroke Occupational Therapists and multi disciplinary team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital paid off on Wednesday 9 May when their cake sale raised £371.73 for the Stroke Association. They created an enticing display of all manner of cakes for staff and visitors to feast on, along with the offer of raffle tickets for fantastic prizes. Raffle winners were delighted with prizes of - a day at Brands Hatch; a car valet; 02 Drift tickets and some beautiful flowers. The sale was followed by a tea party on Ward 3 where staff and patients were invited to enjoy more lovely cakes. Chief Executive, Chris Streather was very pleased to call in and support the cause, praising the staff for their commitment and thanking them for such delicious contributions. Karen Chivers, Occupational Therapy Stroke Team Lead at QE says “We are very grateful to all who participated or gave donations, which included our WH Smith branch on the QE site, Living Holidays.com, The Kent Flower company, S-OAK Car Valet and M Bakes Cupcakes. We are pleased to have helped to raise awareness of the effect of stroke on people’s lives, and delighted that we raised so much for the Stroke Association.”
