Valuing Our Staff
Equality and Diversity
South London Healthcare NHS Trust is committed to providing services that meet the needs and expectations of all sections of the workforce and the communities we serve, as well as meeting our legal, political and health obligations.
As a public sector organisation, we have a duty under the Equality Act 2010 in the exercise of our functions to have due regard to the need to:
- Eliminate unlawful descrimination, harassment and victimisation, and any other conduct prohibited by or under the Equality Act
- Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
- Foster good relations between people who share protected characteristics and those who do not
We strive to ensure that services are fair and accessible to all, irrespective of race, disability, gender, sexuality, religion or age. The Trust is an equal opportunities employer and we seek to employ a workforce that reflects the diversity of backgrounds and cultures within which we operate and which best understands, and serves, the needs of our communities.
Equality Schemes
The Trust has in place a single equality scheme, for which the Executive Equality and Diversity Committee have been accountable for reviewing.
The Trust welcomes the spirit and direction of the NHS Constitution and is developing Values with staff and patients and will endeavour to ensure these are firmly embedded within our organisation.
