Statement on NHS London's Decision on Service Change Programme - "A Picture of Health"
We hope the announcement by NHS London will allow us to turn a corner and continue the significant work we have already completed to ensure patient safety. It is also a clear commitment and demonstration from the NHS of the long term future of Queen Mary's hospital as a key centre for healthcare for local residents.
We know that many local people are passionate supporters of local hospital services at Queen Mary's and we will be working with local GPs over the coming months to ensure that Queen Mary's becomes an established specialist centre for planned surgery and high-quality primary care services. This will include the services local people currently use plus more - such as a walk-in children's unit, and urgent care without an appointment, 24-hours a day, seven days a week. We are also committed to agreeing with local GPs a firm plan for Queen Mary's hospital to become a health campus providing a range of hospital and community health services.
