SLH Maternity launches flu campaign
11-Oct-2012
Maternity Services are launching a six week flu campaign in collaboration with NHS Greenwich and NHS Bromley.
It is recommended that all pregnant women are vaccinated against flu as the immune system is naturally supressed. This means that pregnant women are more likely to catch flu and, if they do catch it, they are more likely to develop complications.
Giuseppe Labriola, Community Midwifery Manager says "You can have the vaccine at any stage of pregnancy. Having the flu vaccination will also protect your newborn baby for the first 3 months of life. "
Midwives will be running a flu clinic during the next six weeks every weekday from 9am-5pm in the Antenatal Clinics at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital. No need to book, just drop in.
