Front line staff lead the way for flu vaccines at SLHT
29-Feb-2012
Chief Executive Dr Chris Streather and Director of Infection Prevention & Control, Tracey Cooper, went to PRU theatres to present the vouchers and congratulate the team for their commitment to fighting flu at SLHT. The department had the highest vaccination uptake within the trust.
The overall SLHT figures show that 1904 front line staff had the flu vaccination this winter meaning SLHT doubled their uptake from last year. South London Healthcare staff are clearly choosing to stay well for their patients and realising the benefits of protection against the effects of flu.
Director of Infection Prevention & Control, Tracey Cooper said” I want to say a big thank you to all the SLHT flu fighters, we have had a definite increase in flu vaccinations especially with front line staff. It is important that we offer this vaccine to staff not only for their own protection but to assist the Trust in keeping services well supported during the winter months.” The flu jab is the most effective way to prevent flu , as well as washing your hands with soap and hot water to avoid spreading the flu virus.
